TAKING THE INITIATIVE FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE
Education is the life blood of our community. That’s the ethos of the board of The Stamford Group Limited, and also of Lord Pendry of Stalybridge. Which is why we are delighted that Tom takes an active role in this local scholarship scheme, funded by The Stamford Group and named after Lord Pendry in recognition of his long and valued service to this area.
Each year schools and colleges in Tameside with post 16 students are invited to nominate suitable candidates, who live in Tameside, with the final choices being made through assessment and interview. At the Stamford Group we are especially concerned with promoting manufacturing opportunities for youngsters, by helping students who show a potential for success in industry or commerce. To reflect this, the awards go to students who are accepted for a degree standard course in mathematics, science, technology or business-related subjects.
This is the ninth year of the scholarships and to date we have supported over twenty previous winners at Universities throughout the country. We propose to award at least two scholarships to a maximum value of £10,000.
